Selector
In many musical arenas, the DJ is called the Selector because their selections drive the vibe of whatever environment they are spinning at. Even with the presence and mainstream takeover of digital controllers, the medium for controlling the sounds is based on three hundred sixty degrees of rotation. Cutting, scratching, rewinding, and replaying within the context of the Selector’s skill set comes down to the fractional reduction of bits and pieces of that physical and literal cipher that is used to manipulate soundwaves. Selectors have been made organically and others through prosthetics, but the sonic performance is often the final judge on what is real and what is imagined.
Mikemetic has been selecting, spinning, and curating music since he was a teenager, and continues to find new sources of inspiration within the grooves of vinyl records.
Mellotronix v.1
The Mellotronix series features downtempo grooves for lounging and getting elevated to.
When I work I usually like to listen to music, but I mostly listen to instrumental beats, jazz, and such bc words can often derail me when I'm traveling at the speed of thought. I decided to start making mixes to share bc many people don't have access or the ability to find good downtempo artists or mixes focused on chill productivity rather than celebration. I'll be posting quite a few different styles of mixes in 2019 so stay tuned...

Mikemetic Beatcast: Soulsides Deep v.1 (Spring 2019)
I haven't put out an Afro Beta themed mix in a while so wanted to get back in the groove early in 2019. Part of my focus this year is meeting people where they are at (mentally, physically, spiritually) and kind of guiding from there. I don't DJ out as much these days but people still need and ask me for musical uplifting so the best way is through beatcasts that people can bump on their own time, in their own environment. This beatcast has some remixes of tracks I have put on previous mixes, but it's heavy on the vocals with some afrostep-type beats underneath. Lots of vocalists reimagined thru an afrofuturist audio haze...
